The South Holland Master Chorale was the proud recipient of the 2010 South Suburban Small Business Association Summit Award for Creative Arts. Our 100+ South Holland Master Chorale members have a long history as one of the premiere singing ensembles of the Chicago Southland. Known for many years throughout the Chicago South Suburban and Northwest Indiana region as the South Suburban Chorale, the South Holland Master Chorale still provides the area with the finest in choral literature performance.
The chorale is comprised of members representing no less than 23 different towns, cities, suburbs, and villages from a 50-mile radius around South Holland. Broadly diverse and proudly non-discriminatory, the chorale enjoys membership from across a wide range of demographics. The chorale has always remained a non-auditioned group – all who love fine choral music and are willing to work hard to bring it to perfection are welcome, regardless of previous choral experience. Now celebrating their 20th year under the directorship of Albert M. Jackson, the Chorale remains the Chicago Southland’s premiere symphonic chorus, having performed many of the greatest masterpieces of classical choral and choral/orchestral literature.
Under the direction of Albert M. Jackson, South Holland Master Chorale has performed in concerts throughout the Chicago south suburbs and Northwest Indiana, presenting major works such as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Mozart’s Grand Mass in C minor, Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise, and most recently the Mozart Requiem and Bernstein’s Mass with the Illinois Philharmonic.
In the summer of 2011, South Holland Master Chorale members embarked on a concert tour of Europe, singing to enthusiastic audiences in the cathedrals of Salzburg, Vienna, and Melk, Austria, and Prague, Czech Republic.
